3D Printing HeroQuest
08/30/18 at 5:59am

So I stumbled upon some decent 3D scans of the HQ figures... likely some old posts on them here some where, quick search found nothing so made a new thread.

The heroes and undead are better scans than the chaos figures.

I used my 3D Printer to print them, and a test print at half size to maybe make a MINI HERO QUEST set.

The wizard seems to have fucked up his teleport spell... †need to figure out what support failed and re-print.

Wow, they turned out nice! Where did you find the print files? Iím also curious what make/model of printer you used? Was it filament or something else?

So many questions ... so much win!  Great work!

This guy has scanned them and uploaded them, but they could be scanned at a better resolution.

The barbarian and elf quest figures are there as well. I am still getting those ready to print.

If you search, there are better scans of the heros and undead on Thingiverse.com

I use a Form Labs FORM 2 - LASER SLA†.025mm Z layers, which is why you cannot see them in the print.

It would be nice to get some of the rarer figures from the expansions scanned.   But those looks great.  We were playing around with a 3d Printer last month and I printed a little box from Thingiverse for holding all my Heroquest tiles.  There are some great files out there for this game.

Yes, even those exceptionally small ones look good! I think a little custom weapon crafting and paint would have them looking even better.

Latest test is of a Goblin, FemBarbarian, and Gargoyle at 3/8 the size of a standard figure. These came out much better, as far as being complete, with arms, legs, weapons etc...

So I went through some other posts on here, and saw the work Nicodemus already did on the 7mm quest, so tried to focus more on that. these are .28 of a full size figure. Or a 7mm square out of a 25mm square.

These are a hair bigger then the smallest prints in the photos above. Some of them failed, and for the umpteenth time I printed the Fimir, it once again disappeared and did not actually print. I may be able to play with the support locations a little more to get the figures that failed to print better.

Adjusted support points a little bit.
They are still not perfect, but they are far better then I thought was possible. The gargoyle's whip and the hero's blades just refuse to print fully this size.
