Quest Pack - Mound of the Beastmen
03/14/17 at 1:19pm

Greetings,
I am glad to present you my expansion pack, the Mound of the Beastmen, finally translated in English. Many thanks to Knightkrawler who made this possible, and also clmckay and Gimmeyergold for their contribution. They did an awesome work. Here is a short brief of the quest pack:

--------------------------------------------

The adventure continues…
The Mound of the Beastmen is a new non-official quest pack for the famous boardgame Heroquest, extending the epic adventure of the Champions of the Empire.
No less than six new quests will lead our heroes into the dark depths of the Mound in search of a mysterious artefact, the Black Stone. In this sordid place, they will be confronted with the legions of Morcar who get in their ranks new creatures, and will have to avoid new murderous traps.
However, powerful new artefacts will help them accomplish their goal and gain even greater power.
New tiles will bring an original experience to our adventurers, from the stifling Forest of Shadows to the mystical Halls of Evil…

Will you be ready to face once more the terrible armies of Morcar?

Content:
-      6 new quests
-      4 new creatures
-      4 new artefacts
-      A compendium booklet, a new way to tell stories in Heroquest
-      New traps
-      New tiles
-      New game mechanics

-----------------------------------------

I hope you will have fun playing this quest pack, at least the same fun I had creating it. It is getting old now, but I would be interested on any feedback you could have on it, so I could make the next quest packs even greater.

Here is the link for the download:
https://sites.google.com/site/thedarkstonetrilogy/

Scroll down and chose the download button with English flag.
You will find PDF ready to print, and PDF for normal use.

Cheers and have fun!
Pan

P.S this post is a c/c from the one I posted on Ye Old Inn forums.

I have not read it thoroughly, but it is a beautifully presented module.  Well done.

I like the compendium as well, as you said it helps with immersion.

From myself and on behalf of Pan, thanks, dudes.
It was fun to practise my written prose and keep consistency with existing canonic material when translating.

Check out the Ye Olde Inn Gallery for the US version of the monster cards.

Been waiting for this for a while, looks beautiful. I tend to prefer the North American version of the formatting, but still looks very professionally done. Thanks for all the time and effort that went in to this!

Hey Folks,

I reached out to Mathieu Pascal, creator of Mound of the Beastmen, because I hadn't yet seen anything about an eventual followup. He shared more than I could've asked for, and gave me permission to share it with the community, so here it is!

Subject: Re: Sequel to Mound of the Beastmen?

Hello Ben,

Thank you very much for your kind words. I am very happy to see that you enjoyed my quest pack.

I am pleased to announce you that a second part of this trilogy is expected. And one more good news : a lot of this new expansion is already done.

Mostly, the art is missing but I have already done some art for artefacts and monster cards, also new icons for quest maps. All the quests design is done (each quest will have an original gameplay), as well as the story.

There will be also brand new features that will add some variations in the gameplay, while keeping the heroquest mantra "easy to learn" in mind.

About the story, I can't reveal too much but the second expansion will take place directly after the end of the Mound of the Beastmen. Before dying, Sir Vardion reveals to the heroes that, while corrupted by the Black Stone, he saw a little town where a sanctuary could be hidden, a sanctuary where the black stone tried to bring him to... In order to understand the meaning of the powerful Black Stone, the heroes begin their journey to the little town... as well as Morcar, still magically connected to Sir Vardion. There, they will maybe find the secret of this Black Stone... But who first ?

I am really excited to reveal my new work. It is not ready yet, as the art is very long to produce alone, but I am confident I should be able to release it before the end of the year.

Thank you again for your interest, Ben !

Bests,
Mathieu

Does anyone have suggestions for miniatures for the the Beastman, Beastlord, Chaos Hound, and Shaman?  I was looking at Reaper Bones - better recommendations?

Warhammer Beastmen, of course. Look for Gors, Chaos Hounds, Beastmen.
Also, Godslayer Mongrels are cheap to get right now.
Then there's Mierce Miniatures' Fomoraic for high-end luxury versions.

And go back to Reaper, but don't look for "Beastmen", but rather for "Reven" and "Woodcutters". Reven are an army of Orcs and various beastmen, Woodcutters are specifically Beastmen/Satyr.

...and - let me guess - your disappointment was overwhelming, over that she didn't have a large beast-thing.
