I've seriously considered putting metal under the floor of my planned HQ board and magnets in the bases of the plastic minis.  Wink

If you're printing your board, this would be useful.

I was actually thinking small neodymium magnets glued to the undersides of hollow bases, and steel washers in my tiles.  Should be windproof, but not impede piece movement.

I'm pretty sure the magnets would stick to that magnetic sheet.  I'm saying, use the magnetic sheet instead of a possibly heavy and sharp corner-y metal sheet.

back to my old school roots here with a small selection of GW regiments goblin archers. i figure they might come in handy at some point although i cant actually recall any use for them in any of the HQ quest books Smiley
but never the less i had fun painting these vintage bits hehe

Just put them in any quest instead of a normal goblin, especially in corridors to toughen things up a little for the heroes.

well this post here suggests that the warhammer regiments box set was in 1987. i think i bought mine maybe a year or 2 after that (the 1st gen skaven came in the same box as these goblins)

Yeah.  Man that regiments box was a steal.  Something like 60 miniatures came in there.

yeah i found it out recently in the attic still with pretty much all the figures assembled but unpainted. i have no use for the dwarves, dark elves, woodelves or the orcs. but ill make some use of the skaven for AHQ.
and yeh if i remember right it was 10 quid for 60 figures HeroQuest Dice Skull

60 miniatures for $30 at retail.  That was an awesome deal.  For someone who wanted to collect 6 different armies.  Haha.

That might sound ridiculous, but how many armies did we buy in the last few years?

heres a few straight from the box. with a few original HQ zombies. that blood didnt quite turn out how i wanted. but still they look better on a board now than they did!
...

ive also got a custom board in the makings (some can be seen as the backdrops to my images, as well as all of the furniture.
ive also sculpted some new doors single and double square width. but i need to cast those to make duplicates before ill be happy putting them up. but for now im churning out as many paint jobs as i can till i have everything done. HeroQuest Dice Skull

Those are so great!! They fit the HQ goblins perfectly! And even if there are no official quests with goblin archers, it's damn easy to make up rules for them. Wish I had some of those. I hate it when new miniatures don't blend in well with those oldschool HQ models.

a little update. as well as maintaining my shitty little blog I have had some spare time recently. and painted up a good deal of figures. as well as rebasing them away from my crappy double stacked look previously.

again ive gone with the orangey dungeon base. because ive decided that when I do get around to making my custom board im going for that same type of corridor. as well I might add, ties them up nicely to be used in advanced heroquest too. as youll see on all of these piccies the boards they are sitting on are from my ahq custom boards.
but anyways heres the updates...nothing mega to really show off. far from perfect.
but at least you get some insight how army painters quick shade can help wash away that job you've been meaning to do since the early 90s Smiley
