A new update is ready for download (link in first post - v1_3).

This update fixes a number of bugs as well as adding 2 new buttons that display your current objectives.

I've started work on adding the Mission Dreadnaught expansion. So far, I've got the Fusion Gun, Conversion Beam and Las-Cannon working.

I'm looking for some feedback on the best way to include these in the mission editor. Should I have a toggle switch that simply says "Allow Extra heavy weapons" and if that gets clicked, then the weapon selection screen will display the extra heavy weapons? And then the number of marines available for the mission will automatically increase to 7.

Also, I haven't played MD in a very long time so I'm a bit rusty on the way orders and equipment interact with extra heavy weapons.  I know the rulebook specifically says cards that affect heavy weapons don't work with extra heavy weapons such as the "Heavy Weapon" order and "Suspensors" equipment. But what about targetters? They are cards that affect heavy weapons but also affect bolters? Are there any other cards that you think should affect extra heavy weapons?

I haven't played MD in a long time either. I think I was 6 or 7. I'm now 30....

But I found this while looking for vassal sprites:

Nothing new I'm afraid.

I have finished off all the MD additions except for the tarantula. That is one tough machine to add. That being said, as soon as I can find some time to devote to it, I will try to get an update out.

New update out with some bug fixes. See first post for link. Also, there is no longer any need to use the Control key. A new Show all targets button has replaced it.

Another update to fix the following 3 bugs:

Game crashing after destroying dreadnaught in dreadnaught factory
Game crashing when using assault cannon
Dread factory not producing all 4 types of Dreadnaughts

Hello all. A new update is out. See first post for download link. See below for bugs fixed.

You can now press "S" to take a screenshot of the game screen.

Scoreboard - Genestealers now appear at the end of the list. Dreadnaughts from the basic game have the Mk VII added.

The text input box was causing the Windows cursor issues. Normal Windows cursors will no longer appear over the game cursor.

Dreads no longer appear on a doorway next to a reinforcement points. Attacking a partially built Dread will no longer cause it to move.

Lascannon now works correctly with Move it order.

Tarantula - Doors can now be opened when a manned tarantula is next to it as well as when a tarantula gunner is next to it. Tarantula gunners are no longer able to stand on the same square as each other. Tarantula and Out of ammo bug fixed. Bulkheads can now only be targetted when inside the tarantula's firing arc. Missile launcher marine killing a Tarantula gunner will no longer destroy tarantula. Genestealers no longer appear on top of a tarantula. The game would occasionally freeze when taking a tarantula on a mission, this no longer occurs. Tarantulas no longer deploy off the edge of a docking claw or over a door/wall. Tarantulas now only move 6 squares. Tarantulas now can only rotate in places they should, e.g. they cannot rotate when next to a wall. Tarantulas no longer reveal blips when walking next to doors and walls. Tarantula can no longer target itself.

Tarantulas and Lascannons will now always wound/kill a Dread when rolling 5 or more on red dice.

Heavy weapon order no longer freezes game if no heavy weapon marines available.

Assault cannon marine can now move after rolling high red die values.

A warning will now appear if you have not used a marine during your turn when you place the mouse over the End Turn button.

Auto Defence no longer causes game to crash after killing the last marine on the vessel.

Any order card buttons added during a mission will be placed in the first available slot after any existing buttons.

Mission selection text, and gui buttons, now appear in the correct spot irregardless of the location you are within the screen.

The vertical dreadnaught factory door was difficult to right click. This door can now be selected normally.

Multiple targets are no longer created on bulkheads.

You can no longer have 2 heavy or extra heavy weapons selected of the same type.

Aliens no longer make walking sounds unless they are actually moving.

New update fixes more issues as seen below (download in 1st post):

When Dreadnaughts attack, their combat dice will now be displayed on the screen separately so that you can see the weapon die results.
New Open all/Close all options added for Master controls.
Within the mission editor, the board popup menu will now give you 3 more options for dealing with doors on that board - Open all doors, Close all doors and Remove all doors.
Aliens can now move through unmanned tarantulas.
Whenever you select extra marines, you will now be able to select 5 Bolters.
Bioscanner now inspects blips rather than reveal them.
Reinforcements no longer appear on tarantulas.
Doors can now only be opened by marines from the same chapter during that chapter's turn. E.g. If an IF marine is the only marine next to a door and it is the BA chapter's turn, the player cannot open the door next to the IF marine.
Opening a door is now classed as a squad starting their turn.
Disabling Dread factory - If you have more than 2 factories and 2 marines from the same chapter are in the same dread factory, only that factory is disabled.

I was going to wait until I'd finished the other eight missions to make this a 20 mission campaign but 12 might be a better size anyway. When I get round to finishing the others I'll release them as a separate 8 mission campaign as well as merging them to expand this one.

By the way, it isn't a mistake that the first mission of New Frontier references a previous mission with a dreadnought factory. That's the last mission of Mission Dreadnought. These two edited mission will allow you to play it as one campaign, the last mission of the standard campaign leads into Mission Dreadnought and the last mission of Mission Dreadnought leads into New Frontier. https://www.mediafire.com/?75ct92tc770sxkq


Bugs:

An android was standing next to a dreadnought and I couldn't target either of them. I could clearly see the android if it wasn't for the dreadnought so the dreadnought must have been blocking it but I couldn't target the dreadnought either.

I tried to take a screenshot of this but the screen went white and I had to Ctrl+Alt+Del and exit the game, at which point the screen went back to normal before closing. I'll use PrtSc from now on.

When you first go onto a new board section you can end your turn on the same square as a tarantula if the tarantula is overhanging that section. It would make sense if tarantulas blocked movement.

I think a chaos marine missile launcher moved five squares as a blip, then another to reveal itself and then two more and shot me. I'll keep an eye out for this.

Aliens still can't move diagonally in the move immediately after opening a door.

A dreadnought shot it's assault cannon after killing me with its missile launcher so it was shooting at nothing.

Tarantulas don't block LOS, at least they don't for marines on the same team, not sure about aliens or other teams.

I got this during the alien turn when a dreadnought was doing something:

Exact same fatal error again on the same mission (Assassination). I don't don't know what was happening, I went for a smoke during the alien turn and it was waiting for me when I got back.

Dreadnoughts don't shoot unmanned tarantulas with their las cannons.

Order and equipment cards are remembered between missions except for targeters.

A dreadnought killed my IF tarantula gunner by scoring 22 with its assault cannon even though the tarantula was directly facing it.

Where are the commander LPs displayed? I'm sure you could see them before.

I like the increased speed addition. Very handy if you have to replay a mission.
