Everything in the Demo can be defended against.  I'll add this in.

Sorceror is an Elf, so he starts with 2 Zip.  Sorceror grants 1 Zip, so he gets a total of 3.

Smackalot is Human (1) Warrior (1).

Chunk is Dwarf (1) Rogue (2).

Facepunch is Human (1) Cleric (0).

It's basically how the Heroes would start based on their Race/Class.

Mind you, a Human gets to choose when he's first created, 2 Beef and 1 Zip or 1 Beef and 2 Zip.

Over time I've been going back and forth over the appropriateness of the artwork.  I like the style but it is definitely for a mature audience, which does cut down my demographic.

As far as my avatar, when the game goes live (the demo, even), the Dungeon Crawl forums will be launched, which will be kept separate from these.

This forum is, admittedly, pretty vulgar.  The folk here are very helpful and friendly, but on off-topics we're just like a bunch of old buds sittin around talking shit.  

The official Dungeon Crawl forums will be decent and moderated.  I almost hesitated pointing DC customers to this site because I know, even though we're friendly, we can be quite... eh... outspoken.  

As far as the girl on the cover of the demo being deformed, yeah if you're looking at it logically, sure, could never happen.  It's just a style.  Something I came up with, thinking that I'd be getting money for the product from adults, not young folk, but it is still a valid concern that I've thought over.

I've mulled over a PG version of DC, but I wouldn't even know if it was distributable or not.  I've already taken out the worst of language in the game (removed every instance of the word "bitch" even though it wasn't used a lot).

Kapptin, if you have some suggestions, I'm definitely all open-ears about them!  Either post here or send me a private message!  All concerns are considered!

I really like the looks of this. Personally I love the art style and the idea that its meant for more mature gamers. As long as you're willing to lose a portion of your market, I'd leave it as is.

One suggestion I might make. Its very true that putting traps on a map in a solo quest is kinda pointless, as the text suggests. The random movement square traps should probably be removed, as realistically no one in their right mind would step on it on purpose. One unavoidable trap on a door is enough to showcase the trap mechanic. If you absolutely feel that you need more traps, have one on a treasure chest or something, but have whatever's inside it be important (weapon/amulet/ring that provides a bonus or whatnot).

Just a thought.

That's why I suggested the treasure chest. Forces choice between going without the bonus or taking on the trap. The forced one is sort of just a test of luck.

And don't cover them up too much...

I'd say make both a clean and mature version, make the "appropriate for all" version your base game and make the mature content an expansion pack that can be purchased seperatly. maybe add a few quests that are only available in the mature version so theres a reason to buy it other then just to get mature art/language, that way you can profit from it all provide a lil somethin for everyone.

Folks are right about how borderline the pic is - if anything, it needs more nudity! It needs naked heroes, naked monsters, naked items, naked dice rolls, and naked everything! And why be limited to just "bitch"? Embrace your inner-AVGN, and may the fucking shitty-ass dick-nose misuse of fucking Tourettes be with youuu!
