Hi All,

I am after a 2-3 people that would be willing to review a game that I am currently making.  I am still in the progress of making some components so it really is just a read and comment on the rules I have at present.

If anybody is interested please PM me with a contact email so that I can send you the PDF.

Regards

Relexx

When is a card deck too large on a table?  Would people consider 70 cards to much to stack?

I think I have somewhere around 50 Treasure Cards and 20 Dungeon Lord cards on the table at all times with my game and it seems like a decent amount.  Plenty of variation and you don't always end up getting the same thing every game (damn you Vines of Evil!).

70 cards is too much in my opinion. But games like Tomb get away with it so it's all good. If you are creating a print-n-play game then it is way too much.

I gotta say that putting 70 cards together was quite a pain in the ass.  The printing itself wasn't bad, not a lot of ink used really, but cutting and assembly was a bitch.

Gbob how many cards would you say is the way to go?

It is a lot of cards to put together which I'm doing now, but as far as being too many on the table, I don't see it as being a problem. Cards will be played and drawn to refill the hand and the deck will shrink as the game goes on. ShitColoredGrin ShitColoredGrin ShitColoredGrin ShitColoredGlasses

The deck is used to draw from to determine creatures, traps, doors, treasure that can be placed on the board as obstacles to other players.

I was asking as I have about 75 in the deck.

John, check your email

Can I have this thread moved to "Other games" please.

Some good news.  I played the game with friends last night.

First round we decided that the character's health was prohibitively low, and found some flaws in spell design.

Second round doubled the health of the hero's, the start room could be used to heal a hero, and changed the exit rules so that when the first person exits characters there is no more reincarnation of other characters.

The shops in the game do not appear fast enough, so I am needing to decide how to get them to appear faster, or the opportunity to appear faster.

All in all we all had fun, the game was fast moving and the second round lasted about 60 minutes, which was the time frame I was aiming for.

Second play test.

My RPG group has now decided that it is the game of preference ... Cheesy

Small rule changes again.  Shops are not appearing, so that is an issue, so still frigging with rules on that one.

We have decided that on character death, only half gold will be dropped and not item drops.

I have also culled all the undead and dragons out of the game as they were just way to tough.

On a positive note, the rule change on no more resurrection once somebody has left the dungeon is working sweet.

So on the whole the game is balancing really well, and we are having fun to boot.

John, do you want the updated PDF's?

Fortnight has passed again ... more tweeks ...

Well we got the shops out, but they came out so fast that they inhibited the game ... no monsters came out due to restrictions on their placement.

A couple of positives came out of the game.

* Allow small monsters to be "spawned" in corridors.
* People now see the value of purchasing equipment.
* Healing equipment is a waste of money so there needs to be a re-balance there.
* The random character selection and bidding has a nice skew in game.

As for balance ...

* The change of Will to Evasion, and having traps target a characters evasion is making the magic users a little tougher (never a really bad thing) and balancing the thief better.
* The barbarians rage ability sux as there is no incentive to use it, his defence just gets to the point where he will always be hit, so a stat balance is required there.
* We are going to limit the cards a player can have in their hands to stop card hoarding.

Thankfully two of the gamers are aware of game balance, and don't give stupid suggest, just so game is easier for them.

Nothing like having good testers.  Can I borrow them!?  haha.

Sounds like it's coming out fairly nicely, man.  Grats!  Wish I had time/players to give it a go with!
