Yeah people go batshit crazy when it's a big patch.  Most patches things like this don't happen, but this one is really big, and it changes a LOT of things.  You'll have to redownload gatherer.  I'm sure there's a new version out there compatible with 3.1 and if not, there will be soon.

Turn off all your mods and log in with your Auction character and see if your auctions are all there.  Most of the time, its an old mod fucking with your shit.  If the auctions are still not there, I say just be patient, most likely they'll come back.  If not, open a GM ticket and ask for help.  You'll have to wait a long ass time to get someone, but BE SURE that when you talk to a GM, that you have NO mods turned on, or they will tell you that's the problem.  They'll also tell you to throw away your WTF folder, which sucks cause that bones a lot of your settings.

So yeah, sit tight and be calm throughout the chaos.  It'll blow over soon.  Except for the real drama queens out there.

I'm close to 68 just about finished in Nagrand, but my Blacksmithing  skill is only 350. It took me a massive amount of time to get from 340 to 350 and in the end I spent a couple of hundred gold getting the last 5 or so.

To get from 350 to 375 will take dozens of hours farming, or thousands of gold. The trouble is I don't have the plans to make cheap stuff to level me. Am I missing something? I've trained evertything from the guys in Stormwind, Ironforge, Hellfire Pass and Shattrath. I've chosen weaponsmith as my specialisation and am a master hammersmith. Am I missing some plans avaliable from vendors maybe? or is that just the way it is. I dont have any yellow plans, most of the orange plans that will level me are binds when picked up except one which is what I am working on getting the reagents for.

I've also had a bit of a cut to my income. I was farming Stranglethorm Vale and making plenty of gold, but some other dudes are now doing the same things and killed my business. Bastards heeh Smiley Oh well was good while it lasted, time to find a new income source.

Ah, you've hit the snag.  There's a couple of VERY hard to find Bind on Pickup plans that you'll need to make that final jump.  I was lucky enough to find them both early on.  Other people spend days farming them.

For engineering, I had to find plans for this scope.  THREE days of farming these stupid elves, and nothing.  I'm sitting there talking to my brother, saying fuck this, this ain't worth it, I'm just gonna go spend about 1k gold and buy the mats, as I'm killing an elf.  I loot the body, and bam, there it is.

Okay I just looked some up and there's no plans for 350.  You'll have to use whatever skills you have now to get to 360, and then from there, you can go to Shadowmoon Valley and kill Deathforge Guardians for Plans: Khorium Pants, or go to Nagrand and kill Murkblood Raiders for Plans: Khorium Belt.  Mind you, these have less than one percent drop rate, so you'll be farming, like I said earlier, for days.

Your best bet is to get into some dungeons.  If you go to The Arcatraz, you have a 14% chance of finding these, Plans: Felsteel Leggings, from Unchained Doombringers, or go to Auchenai Crypts for Plans: Felsteel Gloves, which have a 1.6% chance of dropping from Auchenai Monks.  Thankfully, my guild had just gotten some really good members when I was leveling my warrior, and I got all these plans without even trying.  You, however, will have to be social and get in some dungeons!

You know, you may want to head out to Northrend already and talk to the trainers there.  I see that they have some recipes you learn at 370, so you may not need to be maxed out at 375 before you train up to the next level.

I've got it sussed, I've got my shit in order and gone to Borean Tundara where the Grand Master trainer is. Once you become a Grand Master (which you can do at 350) he teaches you some plans that require bugger all cobalt, which is lying around everywhere.

BTW, all else is good. Auctions came back, got the updated Gatherer. Shouldn't take long to hit 70 in Northrend then I'll head back to Outland to get my flying mount just so I can fly around for a while, then back to Northrend.

Awesome, train up at 350.  That's perfect.  I guess they didn't want people farming primal mights.  Those were a motherfucking bitch.

Right on though.  I never liked the look of Borean Tundra.  I always went with Howling Fjord, because after looking at so much of Outland, I like a bit of grassiness.  The music there is great too.

Yep, same here in Outland.  It made farming Adamantite and Primal Airs nice.

My two favorite zones in Northrend are Howling Fjord (this place is great, finally a place that really looks medieval and Nordic), and Grizzly Hills, just to the north of Fjord.

I did the bits or Dire Maul I needed. Took someone with me to get the key, but didn't really need anyone so when they left I solo'ed the west wing and got what I needed.

Then went to Schoolmance, but blew it at the last minute Smiley had to go back to Stormwind abandon quest and re-accept it. I paniced there for a second when I couldnt get back into the dungeon and I thought I was going to have to give the Paladin trainer the two types of dimaonds again, but that was the step earlier.

Gotta get the key for Schoolmance. Some dude let me in this time.

The key is easy to get I think.  Not sure where you get the quest for Alliance, but it requires you to kill this undead chick in the town that's around there.  She used to be elite but now she's a non elite chump.  You kill her, take her shit, then pay 15 gold to someone in Gadgetzan I think, and that's it.

I've been flat out questing. I'm up to 74, so I can see that 80 is not that far away. Taking a bit of time out to do some fishing at the moment though as I've been pretty hard core for a few days.

Golds going up steady but training is getting costly so not much movement towards the elusive 5K. Like I said my cash cow has been arse rooted and thrashed by other players so I havent been at the markets as much. Just stocking up on cheap motes when they are avaliable. I'll be tempted to make primals and sell to get me closer to 5K but i've been stockpiling to make some weapons.

Got a good recepie drop for a helmet that I've been selling for 30g to 35g. Sold a few so far. Can't even wear the bastard yet myself as it req lvl 75.

Nice.  You'll find that in this expansion you don't need those near-impossible-to-find recipes to build up your skill.  Instead, you trade in expensive mats for the recipes at a vendor.  At least that's what leatherworking was like.

Had to get a world drop for the heavy frostweave bandage to get my first aid from 400 to 450, but luckily got that pretty quick after hitting 400. Killed a random troll and there it was.

So whats the go with the next level of flying (just so I don't start off on some impossible neverending quest again).

1. At level 77 get coldweather flying (so i can use my regular flying mount in northrend) 1000 gold.

2. Get next level of flying (can't remeber what its called now) when I get together 5000 gold.

3. Buy epic flying mount. Around 1000 to 2000 at a guess? Do you get a choice of mounts?

Is that sortof the way it goes?

For your epic flying mount, you go to the same guy that sold you your normal one.  I think they cost like 200 gold.  You'll get your choice of gryphons, but that's about it.

You can get a really cool Netherdrake by doing daily quests for about a week, down in Netherwing Ledge in Shadowmoon Valley in Outland.  You need epic flying to take the quests though.

Aside from that, most other mounts require a lot of Reputation to purchase, and it won't be very easy to get it (you need to grind old faction rep like Cenarion Expedition by doing heroic level 70 dungeons).  Or, you could go for one of the very rare heroic dungeon drops.  I think Utgarde Pinnacle has one that drops off the last boss.

I got to 77 today so I can get coldweather flying. Then a bit of grinding to get some gold for epic flight, shouldn't take too long (hopefully only a few days). I guess then I might as well push on for 80 and get that done.

After that I want to get all my trade skills to 450 (including the secondary ones). I want to get the World Explorer Acheivement, but after that I guess I better start doing some battlegrounds, raids and dungeons I think. I've got really no idea where to start with that though. Do I try and stick with the same area to get an armor set maybe? Not really sure where to go from here once I wrap up the things I am working on. Probably what I would really like next is a nice set of armor. Does the best gear come from Battlegrounds or Dungeons, or both? Or is it better to try and make gold and buy it at the AH.

The best gear is Bind on Pickup so you can't buy it (well most of it...  there's some pretty good Bind on Equip).

Start doing dungeons when you hit 80.  Best way to do this is to join up in a guild (to keep your old guild, you'll have to /gleader someone else).  You'll start getting the more expensive mats and better gear this way.  Craft the best armor you can for yourself.  That's a good start but you'll probably need mats from dungeons/heroic dungeons.

Battleground gear is great, but not great for the serious dungeon dweller.  The kind of stats they give are best for PvP.  Though some may be better than what you have, you'll find better in dungeons.

Then there's PvP.  You can get into doing arenas and grab the arena gear, but you have to be very good.  It could take a while.  Your best bet would be to partner up with a Death Knight (DK and Paladin are the most overpowered classes inPvP right now).  Arena can be fun but you'll be playing against some real hardcore players.

If I were you I'd stick to a guild that's doing dungeons, specifically heroics.  Paladins are easy DPS so people pick them up all the time.  Be smart about how you play and you should be OK.  Get yourself mods like Omen and Recount to track your DPS and threat.

Now, if you decide to tank, it will be REALLY easy to get into a guild and/or dungeons, but you'll have to be good.  Basically the entire group is counting on you.  If you want to tank, have someone teach you how and what to do.  Make sure they know you're new to tanking.  Drawback to this is if you're in a party with any Plate wearing DPS, chances are you'll only get yourself better tanking gear, cause others will take the DPS gear.  Tanking can be really fun though.

Yeah lots to think about.

I've thought about looking for another guild, but one of my favorite parts of the game is mucking around with my guild bank. If I decide to go that way (which I probably will entually), I'll just give control of the guild to one of my alts, you can do that cant you? At the moment the guild is mainly so all my alts can have access to the bank, but one day (when I get more experienced) I'd like to take on extra memebers, especially if I get some freinds on-line.

I'll have to look into the dps, tanks, healer part of the game. I think I have the basics, but everything I read on the net about it is aimed at advanced players and is pretty hard to come to grips with especialy when so much jargon is used in describing it.

The battlegrounds I've done are fun, but yeah, you get your ass kicked by some serious dudes playing them. Still gotta learn the hard way I guess.

You can't transfer guild lead to someone that's offline, so it'll take 2 accounts to do.  Transfer lead to someone, log in as your alt, then have them transfer lead back to you.

As far as all the advanced stuff, that's why I suggest joining a guild (casual guild) that won't have a problem teaching new players.  My guild was all friends and family so there was no drama and shit.  If someone was new to tanking or healing or whatever, people would show them how to do it.  There was never a "God this tank fucking sucks, I'm outta here!" moment.  So find yourself a guild like that and you should be good to go.

Got to level 80 today (11 weeks to the day it took me). I feel I can relax a little now as I was pushing a bit towards the end when I could see 80 in sight. I treated myself to a 3rd guild bank tab as a reward (I know it's probably cheaper to use bank alts but the guild bank is easy).

Got epic flying a couple of days ago, that is essential as I can whip around my mining run in no time. Going to do some lower level ore runs so I can level my other miners and produce more titansteel. Also going to work on my enchanter as well so I can dissenchant all those greens rather than selling them at AH.

Pretty much got my blacksmithing as high as it can go so made the best armor I can and working on making a set of the best weapons I can.

Next going to level fishing and cooking together.
