I just recently bought the materials to do this.  Hopefully if they come in before the weekend I'll have something to work on.  We'll see how bad I butcher it.  Grin

Awesome stuff. I'm interested to see how you go with that.

What sort of materials did you buy ?

I got the 3/4" Insulation Board.  Extremely cheap, a 6 pack of 14.5" x 48" costs less than 5 bucks.  I ended up buying two of the six packs, but shipping was like 8 bucks so it was almost 20 bucks total for all the shit, but it's a LOT of shit for that price.  I'm sure if I bought it locally I could have paid only around 10.

Then I got the Mod Podge sealer, two 16oz cans for about 5 bucks each, but again, another 10 bucks shipping.

Cool, let us know how you go with that. Are you likely to have this stuff arrive and then lose all motivation for the project, or get sidetracked by another, or are you dedicated to seeing this through to the end ?

Well like all my projects I decide to at least start it.  Smiley

Right now I'm very into getting Dungeon Crawl out the door.  Over the weekend I redid all the treasure cards, Dungeon Lord cards, and I'm currently doing artwork for the backs of the Dungeon Theme cards.  Just finished The Crypt.  Ugh I suck at doing backgrounds, I tell you what.

I mentioned this before; I kinda need distractions in my work, otherwise I lose interest completely in a single project.  That's why I have Dungeon Crawl, my HQ expansion (see I didn't forget about it!) and I just primered my Netherlord for painting... when I find my damn paints.

So as far as this project goes, when I do get the materials, I figure I'll build at least a few pieces.  It looks quick and easy enough to not have to take too much time, and I want to use them as reference photos for selling my game as well, so I'll have to do some before putting the game out anyway.

I did want to do some this weekend.  A few days ago I emailed the company about the insulation board, asking if it had shipped and if they had a tracking number.  They sent me an email the next day, showing a tracking number.  They mailed it out that day.  Fuckers FORGOT to ship my order!  I ordered it like a week and a half ago!

So yeah, it seems simple enough to do, and quick enough, so next weekend when my kid isn't in my hair and I'm sick of doing artwork for my stupid game, I'm sure I'll do some of this, as long as the insulation foam is here.

I'll try to get at least a couple rooms done!  Stop pushing me!  Wink

Lame.  I think I got the wrong stuff.  The boards I got look pretty much just lyke styrofoam.  Looks like I'm gonna just have to go to the hardware store and see if they got any stuff like this laying about.

On the plus side, I think I know something I CAN use this stuff for.

Bleh.

There's little worse than receiving the wrong shit in the post.... Angry

I didn't know there were two types of styrofoam....I just thought it was expanded, didn't know about the extruded....is the latter thicker or more dense or something a long those lines ?

Yeah.  Not sure how to describe the extruded stuff.  More like foam made of tiny bubbles, instead of small blobs, I suppose.

I can't find any place to buy the extruded stuff online.  Gonna have to hit the hardware store.

Just posting some pics of the project I'm working on using foam insulation and a low temp hot glue gun to make quick and cheap dungeons.

Very nice what you have done there. One Question I do have, how did you get the tile form into the foam?

Best regards.

Finally I found this weekend some time and tried to do some 3D foam dungeon by my own. I personaly like the output, and I think that I will continue with my work and create some more tiles.

Heres the picture, feedback is welcome.

...

In any case, thanks for the tutorial.  Cheesy
