Any one from OZ know of a solution? I'd really like to get moving on doing something similar...

Do you have Clark Rubber near you?

It is not a place I visit regularly, but they have all types of foam.  I bought some kids interlocking alphabet floor mats that was dense foam, it is about 10mm thick and all sorts of pretty pastel colours.  I am sure that they would have something neutral in that density.  Even if you spent the money on the interlocking mats, the interlocks would make great edges for walls and corridors.  Their website touts craft foam.

"Some Kids"? You buy random stuff for random children? I hate to say this, but you're going to get profiled as a child molester if you keep that up. It is not just candy anymore ...

Or, as the Jewish Child Molester once said ... "Hey little girl, want to buy some candy?"

No - sorry guys I can't let you keep this post off-topic - I have only just read it and I want to say the foam dungeon is AWESOME!  Shocked

Excellent work - would love to have a game on it.

I would really like to tackle a project like this, but do not have much room here.

The foam dungeon board pieces in this post are awesome. They look fantastic.

cyber333 - I know Clark Rubber has sheets of this foam up here in Brissy, because I've bought some from them for a Battletech terrain project, and you can get it in a few different thicknesses. I understand that when you visited the Clark Rubber near you they didn't have it but perhaps you could request them to place a special order for it.

Hirst's Arts is a great choice as well though. I have several of their molds and they're great. For floor tiles mold #267 or mold #204 are the best to use (get at least 4 x molds otherwise you will be casting FOREVER). These are both 1 1/2 inch floor tiles which offer more room for mini movement than the 1 inch floor tiles. The best plaster to use is Hydrocal and I found that the best mounting board was black foam card. Anyway, I've done all this before so if you want any advice just let me know.

Here's a pic of some of my stuff - these were made with mold #267....I'll one day replace them with mold #204 though.;

Yeah, most gamers find that space is a rare and precious commodity within their household. You may be surprised to find though that my Hirst's Arts stuff, apart from a few of the larger board sections, fits into about 4 shoe boxes !!!

Its not where to store it - its were to get it out and play with it!

Nice set up though, it must be really cool playing games on a board like that.
