After looking through my collection of old computer games, I came across a game called "Unlimited Adventures". This was a RPG maker in the vein of the old AD&D Gold box games (if anyone remembers those).

I've been playing around with it for the last few days and have decided to try converting a Heroquest module for it. I'll keep you all updated on the progress of my work.

Please remember that this is still very much a work in progress due to all the changes I've made.

The 14 main game quests are supported plus the KK expansion pack and now the WL quests are available!

Oh my god Wolf is gonna shit his penis when he sees this.  Wolf is an absolute UA fucking MASTER.

Actually, me and him were the very first ones to hack into the Mac version of the PC Icons file, and replaced them!  If we knew how to program, we would have made an app, but we don't.  No app was ever made for it.

Anyways, I think Wolf may have started on a HeroQuest UA game, or we started on one a long time ago, or we thought about doing one... Smiley  Anyways, Wolf made a dope ass Mortal Kombat scenario for UA, with new PC icons and everything.  It's quite cool.  It should work cross-platform, but I'm not sure.  Ask him.  He'll do ya good.  Smiley

I saw an App on the net that helps you to easily replace the sound files, pics, etc. I haven't given it a go yet but I have made the maps for the main quests so far using the default template walls.
I'm not sure about how I'm going to implement the spells and stuff, so I'm going to try downloading some other people's modules that have changed these things and see how they did it.

You could make the spells come as magic items, and before each quest, the wizard chooses which artifacts he takes.

Also, I don't think there was ever a program for switching that stuff around for the Mac.  There's tons of PC programs for it, but not for us.  Smiley

I've just found this new editor, called Dungeon Craft. It's basically Unlimited Adventures, just modernised. Higher resolutions, better art, sound and music support, and heaps of new features. Old mods from UA can also be loaded into the editor. You also don't need the editor to play the modules once you've finished them, unlike UA. So its easier to pass the modules onto your mates.

I'll download it tonight and give it a try. If it is as good as it claims to be, then I'll be changing over to it to complete my HQ stuff.

I downloaded it and tried it on Virtual PC and it works really well.  It's pretty cool, there's a bunch of new graphics and stuff.  I had to install DirectX8 though, but that's it.  Not bad.

I made a bunch of cheesy little 8-bit combat icons for HeroQuest UA as well as scanned pics for all the monsters and shit.  If you want them, I can hunt them down and send them to you.  And Mortal Kombat UA as well, if you want.  Just let me know.  Although MK is actually a finished game, all I ever finished for HQUA was some graphics, I think.  I started too many different settings for UA.  Way too many.  As a matter of fact, I think that my MKUA game is the only thing I've ever actually finished in my whole life.  Isn't it, Old Scratch?  Although the coolest UA mod ever was one that he and I worked on together where we made it a modern setting with machine guns and tanks and dudes on turrets and an old grandma wearing an Ozzy t-shirt.  Ah, that was fun.... Grin

Man, that was the coolest mod we ever made... It had dudes with guns, and the tanks were fucking cool!  We lost all that shit in a HD crash though.  Sucks ass.  We spent lots of time on it.

Progress update. I've started work on the first HQ quest (Maze or Trial, whichever you prefer). The map is complete and you can walk around to all the rooms and meet all the monsters. I don't have the exact monster icons, so I'm just using similar ones. At least you can now walk around a HQ board in 3D.  Tongue

The major thing left to do is to change the spells to HQ ones, and also to fix up the combat so that it reflects the dice in HQ. At the moment, the heroes do basic damage as follows: Barbarian 1d4 -1, dwarf 1d3 -1, elf 1d3 -1, and wizard 1d2 -1. This reflects their starting dice but lets them roll more skulls than usual, so to speak. If that doesn't make sense, don't worry cause it will be changing, I've just got to work out how to do it. Plus the monsters don't defend with dice rolls, just with Orf's dreaded THAC0  Wink , so I've got to see if I can change that as well.

And I've also got to add furniture, tombs, etc.

I'll give more progress reports as I get closer to finishing.
